Out and About
Yesterday, we spent most of the morning doing paperwork……3 long hours. Luckily, we were able to do this in the hotel playroom, so the kids could play, although the temperature in the room was like a sauna! Our guide Daniel has been great….he is very organized and wonderful to have him taking care of this for all of us. Cris and Ashley went out for coffee during part of this and were able to see a traditional lion dance being done in the street. What an unexpected surprise for our trip.

Averi has now decided that her Aunt Cris is pretty special. Yesterday she even took her hand…..they are going to be good buddies. They both are so crazy together….it has been very fun to watch their relationship grow.
We had a wonderful Chinese lunch at the hotel restaurant with dumplings, steamed vegetables and steamed rolls…..one of our favorite things to eat here. The food is so good but very different from Chinese food in the states.
In the afternoon we went to the Pearl Market, which was actually a HUGE five story building with nothing but beads, beads and more beads. Ashley bought quite a few strands as they were very inexpensive. Outside the market was another very busy shopping street called Up and Down Street. We had a great time shopping for shoes for our girls.

Averi is doing just great now. We are so in love with this little ball of energy. She has such a wonderful personality, but she is going to definitely keep me on my toes!!
In the evening we did a little more shopping around the hotel and had to buy a new HUGE suitcase for Cris to haul everything home…..but it was only $17 for the suitcase. It is so beautiful around the island at nights with many lights and lots of people out walking around.

We went for coffee this morning at a shop that is similar to Starbucks…..it tasted SO good! Our favorite local women were dancing again this morning. One little old lady, we have named “Red Shoes” has become our favorite and was so happy to have her photo taken today. I just love all the people here….they are all so warm and friendly.

We are waiting to hear our paperwork is OK at the consulate and then we can venture out again today. We only have two more days in Guangzhou, as we will leave tomorrow afternoon back to Hong Kong. The time has gone by so quickly but we are all ready to come back home.

LeeAnn,
Let me say how much Larry and I have enjoyed this blog. And we just love Averi! Hope we get to meet her in person one of these days! Hope you have an easy trip home. What a homecoming it will be!

HAPPY HOMECOMING DAY!!
I know you'll be glad to get home after your trip (even if it is COLD and SNOWY here right now).
I hope the flights home were uneventful and that Miss Averi did OK. Being on airplanes for 20+ hours to get home isn't a lot of fun...
We look forward to seeing you all again and meeting Averi...once you've had some time to rest, get rid of the jet-lag and settle in!
Again, WELCOME HOME, especially to Averi, your newest daughter :) May God continue to bless your family during this time of transition at home! I know the rest of the family will be so happy to have you all home again.
KUDOS to Andy for keeping those home fires burning!
